The Village Hall, Building, Planning, & Maintenance Committee provides oversight and advisory support for the operation, maintenance and long-term planning of Village-owned buildings and facilities. The Committee works to ensure that Village Hall and related properties are safe, functional, well-maintained, and aligned with the Village’s operational needs, planning goals, and regulatory requirements.
Our Role
Village Hall Operations and Facilities Oversight
The Committee oversees the condition and functionality of Village Hall and other Village-owned buildings. This includes reviewing facility needs related to safety, accessibility, space usage, and day-to-day operations and making recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
Building Maintenance and Repairs
The Committee monitors maintenance and repair needs for Village facilities, including structural elements, mechanical systems, utilities and exterior features. It helps identify priorities, reviews service proposals, and recommends repairs to ensure buildings remain in good working order.
Capital Improvements and Facility Planning
The Committee assists with planning and prioritizing capital improvement projects related to Village buildings. This may include renovations, expansions, or major system replacements, and involves reviewing cost estimates, timelines and long-term facility needs.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety Standards
The Committee helps ensure that Village-owned buildings comply with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility requirements. It may review inspection findings and recommend corrective actions to maintain compliance and protect public safety.
Contracted Services and Bidding
The Committee oversees the review and recommendation process for contracted services related to building maintenance, repairs and facility improvements. It evaluates proposals and makes recommendations to the Village Board to ensure services are obtained transparently, responsibly, and in accordance with Village policies.
Planning Coordination and Space Use
The Committee reviews space utilization and planning needs within Village facilities, coordinating with other committees and staff to ensure buildings effectively support Village operations and future needs.
Budget and Financial Oversight
The Committee assists in developing and monitoring budgets related to Village buildings and maintenance. It helps prioritize expenditures, track costs, and recommend funding allocations to support responsible stewardship of Village assets.
Advisory Role and Communication
